I am from CA but regularly visit friends in Tucson. On my last trip we went by BWA. We spent about 2 hrs in the store and the staff answered all our questions, never tiring of the conversations... great people behind the counters. I purchased an X-Comp for my 5.56 AR and even though they were ready to close waited for me to drive back to my firends house, pick up my rifle, and bring it back to have the comp installed. Again, great service. The X-comp was installed and the next day taken to the range. I was not sure exactly what to expect. It was perfection. No more muzzle flip. With each shot the target was still present with no need to realign the sights for the next shot. If you want to modifiy an AR this is the best bang for your buck. Wickedly insane! I'm shooting an LWRCi M62A and replaced my birdcage with BWA's compensator. Went out to three-points and ran some test. Testing was done at 96 degrees and with high humidity (we also had a monsoon rain while testing). Reduced muzzle flip to almost zero. Targets remained in my ACOG with only minor adjustments having to be made (before I had to re-acquire the target). Works exactly as described. Zero complaints and zero affects on accuracy. Best part was watching my 12 year old son, Casey, rapid fire at dusk and in the rain. Definitely would recommend. High value especially for the price. (Posted on 8/14/10)

I was visiting friends in Tucson and stopped in at Black Weapons Armory. When speaking with the staff the X-comp became the topic of conversation. Tom and his employees were genuine and very knowledgeable and quickly gained my confidence. I decided to replace the A2 birdcage with the X-Comp. Went back to my firends house to pick up my 5.56 AR came back to the store where they installed it. The next day we headed out to 3 points. I fired one round, safed my rifle, lowered it, and looked at my friends and muttered an explitive. The X-Comp did everything Tom said it would, no more muzzle flip, recoil is straight back, and the target remains in the sight picture after every round. This investment was worth every penny. I should have written this sooner but I can now say with out a doubt this is a great comp from a great company. I have been dominating our local carbine matches since I added this particular comp. Try the black or the two tone black and silver. They look great and they perform! (Posted on 2/21/10)

Have not yet test-fired this comp, which was part of a new assembly using an Adams Arms piston conversion kit for my ArmaLite M15A4. Bought this comp upon recommendation by Adams Arms customer rep. Installation is easy, but the peel washer / crush washer design is clumsy and rube goldberg to use. The individual shims did not easily separate or peel off, despite following the instructions. Recommend the peel washer be replaced with an ordinary crush washer and four to six separate thin shims to allow final orientation of the comp when torqued down.

Otherwise, a very nice looking comp. look forward to my first test fire outing

Thanks for the review. I agree that the peel washers are a pain in the butt, however we have found problems using crush washers. In our experience crush washers often don't flatten perfectly concentric and can reduce accuracy or shift point of impact. We don't advertise or guarantee this, but we have seen groups tighten up by using the X-Comp, and several customers have reported the same thing.

Virtually no muzzle lift. I am still looking down range (500 meters) with my ACOG, and I am still on line with my target. Worth every penny spent. Has improved my accuracy. Much tighter groups. (Posted on 8/28/09)
